Spinning with Cat

My roomie is super fit. She eats only healthy things like spinach with no dressing and drinks 3 gallons of water per day. She runs six miles a day in the morning then will work out for another hour at night. AND, she's a med student like me...that means 8-5 class everyday and Monday & Wednesday exams at 7:30 am. That's motivation.

So, today me and my crazy self decided to join her for spinning. But, since we had to be there 30 minutes before the spinning class started, we briskly walked for thirty and spun for an hour. Oh my ghetto booty hurts! I just didn't wanna be the girl who sat down when everyone was spinning not sitting down. But, the good news is my lips did not turn blue and I did not pass out. YAY self!!! Now, I'm committed to going with Cat every Wednesday and Sunday to spin. Go booty!

Shout out to the Mummy: HAPPY BIRTHDAY THE MUMMY! :)

I don't have a nice picture of the mummy to post, so sorry.

Not Procrastination

I have an anatomy exam at 7:30 am tomorrow, but I figured I have time to blog. Even though I have nothing to say really...

This is what it's like in Illinois these days: Cold 30 degree weather. Rainy. Full of geese (at least in my school).

This is what I did today: Study in the morning in my pajamas. Ate lunch. Around three I worked out for about an hour. Then I took a shower, ate dinner for about 2 hours. Yes, it takes two hours to eat dinner! Talked to Cat (my first actual human contact and conversation) for about 10 minutes. Study. And, now I'm here. Soon I'm going to sleep because I'm not a morning person and to be up & ready at 7:30 am is a big effort for me. Yesss. Welcome to my life. You people should call me one day...but call my cell phone instead of my room first 'cause I'm screening my calls for reasons you would know if you called me. Hehe.

Pancit Pow Wow Part II

Today my lil' Filipino friends decided to cook instead of going to another Filipino food place. Hazel and I cooked adobo. Yes. We cooked adobo and it was goooood. I promise. Patrick fried some bangus. (Note to non-filipino friends...it's not bang-us, but "ba" and then "knus"). Milk-fish. Good stuff. Karen made bico. Rose made halo-halo. Terrence made leche flan. Steph bought the healthy veggies. They were good and we ate them while cooking. And, of course, we had rice. But, man did we stink that whole place up! Rose and I walked to the front door of the apartment building, which was about four floors up from where our lil' Filipino soiree was..and we were going back down and we smelled the food from all the way upstairs! It smelled hekka fish-saucy, fried-things going on somewhere. Dogs started barking and stuff. It was funny. Sorry Patrick and Joe your apartment is gonna smell for awhile.

After dinner, Joe who's really into alternative medicine and harmony & relaxation stuff, showed us some Tibetan bowls used to relax people. The bowls are alloyed and are made of 8 different metals. You put them on top or around a person who's lying down and then hit the bowls and they vibrate and they're suppose to relax you. Kinda cool. I didn't volunteer to try them 'cause I was experiencing food coma, but Karen did. And, she was all limp noodly after the treatment.

All in all, it was a good night. Pancit Pow Wows have been a success. On our third Pancit Pow Wow though, I think we need to actually have some pancit.

Happy Birthday T'Maisa!

It's Ballzee's birthday today :)

Is It Really the Sweetest?

Rachna, Hazel, & I were in the grocery store yesterday night buying a few things for our APAMSA meeting, and the flower aisle was filled with heart balloons saying "Happy Sweetest Day." I'm like, "What in the world is Sweetest Day?!?!!" Hazel said, "Oh it's like a fake Valentine's Day." So, I googled it online and it's suppose to be celebrated every third Saturday of October. While its beginnings were noble, Sweetest Day morphed into one of those holidays where a retail whorefest is allowed. When couples can buy each other crap they don't need, and where single people go insane! It's another one of those holidays guys have to remember or otherwise face "The Wrath" for forgetting it. Not only do they have to worry about anniversaries & Valentine's Day..there's Sweetest Day too?! Guys, it sucks to be you.

Sadness :(

Sadness. We're not going to medWAR anymore because Hazel hurt herself. Maybe God is trying to send me a sign saying, "Do you really want to cross a lake holding your backpack over your head?"

Pet Peeves

I was running at the gym yesterday and this guy was running next to me and kept looking over at my screen. The reason I know this is 'cause the treadmills face the window and I can see his and my reflection. The guy would run slower so he'd be at the edge of the treadmill look over to his right (where I am), look at my screen, and then run faster, look under the t-shirt he put over his treadmill screen and see how fast he's going compared to me. Loser. He did that more than six times. That is until this teenage track runner got on the treadmill to his left and was running so fast without struggling. So, this guy looked over the teenage track runner's screen, then my screen, then his screen...and got off the treadmill. Finally. He just got intimidated by the track runner and couldn't run faster than him. Ha! That's what you get peeper!

The Duddy Visits

The duddy is here in Illinois for a business trip. So, last Sunday we went to visit Tito Al & Tita Azer in Chicago. I think he gave them about a days warning that we were going to come over for lunch. Oh well.

Tita Azer made fried fish, apretada, and adobo. Yummers! I finally had Filipino food for free and not "Euro" size. Anyways, during lunch we just chatted, but I was kinda tried so the duddy and Tito Al did most of the talking. And, I was just eating. After lunch, Tita Azer made me a weeks worth of baon. Yay! I love food.

Driving back to my dorm, there was this huge dark cloud in the freeway. You know in cartoons when all of a sudden dark clouds appear out of no where and then they're right above you? Yep, that's what happened to us. And then crazy thunderstorm rain happened. Like pails of water pouring over us. The duddy was driving & he couldn't see...and you thought he was a scary driver on a normal day...try being the passenger in the middle of a thunderstorm.

APAMSA National Conference

Rose & I went to Northwestern University to attend the APAMSA National Conference today. Pretty interesting stuff.

What my little A.D.D. mind got (in a nutshell) from this whole experience is that Asians are more prone to acquire the Hepatitis B Virus and they are more likely to get liver & stomach cancer. Yay me for paying attention and learning two lil' tidbits!

Rose made these cute little business cards so that we could pass it to cute boys that we see. But, sadness there weren't any.
